California Senate Bill 1305 requires retail suppliers of electricity to report to consumers “accurate,
reliable and simple to understand information on the sources of energy (fuel types, including
renewable fuels) that are being used for electricity generation…” (Public Utilities Code Section
398.1 (b)). The program is administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC).

Since Island Energy does not have access to data for specific purchases from generators other
than the percentage of hydroelectricity, Island Energy is entitled to use the “Net System Power”
data published by the California Energy Commission, as shown below. Island Energy updates the
Power Content Label when new information is provided by the CEC.

The 2007 CA Power Mix (Figure 1) represents Net System Power, which is a mix of electricity
which does not have specific purchases between electric consumers and generators. The Total
System Power label (Figure 2) represents all of the generation consumed by customers in
California. Net System Power is the component of Total System Power that is not directly
generated for specific retail purchases.
